GROUP VISIT FAQ's
Q: Where is The Children's Museum located?
A: We are located in the heart of the Seattle Center, on the first floor of the Center House.
Q: What age range does the museum target?
A: The majority of our exhibits are geared towards children ages 0-10. We also have a special area called Discovery Bay for children birth-3 years.
Q: Where can I find parking, and how much does it cost?
A: Some 2-hour metered and un-metered street parking is available around Seattle Center. Paid parking is available in the Seattle Center lots surrounding the campus. For further information, call the Seattle Center Parking Hotline at (206) 233-3989.
Q: How many people do I need in a group to receive a group rate?
A: To receive a group discount, we ask for 10 or more fully paying non-members to form the base of the group. Memberships can only be used on top of this base of 10.
Q: What types of group visits do you offer?
A: We offer self-guided group visits that include access to all museum exhibits, with a special emphasis on our current temporary traveling exhibit. Group size is limited to 80 children, and we ask for a ratio of 1 adult to every 6 children.
Q: How much do group visits cost?
A: Self Guided group visits are $6.00 per person for groups of 10 or more. Both children and adults pay the same rate. Payment must be made two weeks prior to your visit by cash, credit, or check. Purchase Orders are acceptable at that time, but full payment must be presented at the door.
Q: Do Children's Museum memberships apply towards group visits? A: Children and adult members may use their memberships toward self-guided group visits of 10 or more visitors only. The TCM reservations coordinator must have a full count of members 2 weeks prior to the visit.
Q: Do you provide any sponsored admission opportunities?
A: Yes, we do! The children in your group must fall into one of the following categories: low income, receiving free or reduced lunch, or "at-risk." We are able to sponsor children, however, adults must pay the group rate. Due to our limited funding, we are only able to sponsor a limited number of groups each month. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. A completed Sponsored Admission Group Form must be completed at least two weeks prior to the visit in order to complete the sponsored admission process.
Q: When should my group arrive, if I have scheduled our facilitated option?
A: Groups must arrive 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time. If your group is running late, the group leader must call the museum at (206) 441-1768. Extreme tardiness may cause cancellation.
Q: Where can groups eat lunch?
A: We recommend that you eat lunch upstairs in the food court area of the Center House.
Q: Do you have a place to store coats, sack lunches etc.?
A: Yes we do! A staff member will gather all of your belongings and let you know where they are stored.
