Activities during Our Exploration

  • Making Runaway Dreidels. When a dreidel that takes off through a boy’s living room, the boy—and readers—are taken on a runaway adventure through city streets and along country roads, where modern times and history blend together in magical ways. We'll be reading the story and making our own Runaway Dreidels.
  • Making Potato Latkes. Also called Potato Pancakes, this yummy Potato Latkes are a traditional treat during a Hanukkah celebration. We'll make this treat and then decide which dipping sauce we like better - applesauce or sour cream!
  • The Story of Hanukkah Howie. "The Story of Hanukkah Howie" was written with two primary goals. First, to memorize the warmth of the author's family experience developed over the many years of family  Hanukkah celebrations, especially the unbounded love shared by her father and the grandchildren, and later, the great-grandchildren. Secondly, to present a gentle, easy to understand message that, regardless of our personal appearance, our differences, or our own short-comings, we each have a role in this life - we each have a place in the family of man.
This activities happen throughout our week of exploration, not every day!  Be sure to check our calendar for daily details. The exhibit is open for play all day, every day.
