A private non-profit institution, The Children’s Museum, Seattle (TCM) is the region’s pre-eminent early childhood development institution for children birth 10 years and their families. TCM brings to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on explorations of the world around them. Located on the first floor of the Seattle Center’s Center House, the Museum serves 230,000 visitors annually including school groups, youth organizations, off-site at-risk youth programs and sponsored admissions programs.
Position Title: Exhibit Program Manager
Position Function and Purpose:
Work with Education Director to development and implement programming that reflects the mission and philosophy of the Children’s Museum, Seattle. The primary functions of this position are the coordination of community partnerships for a variety of museum programming as well as preparation and facilitation of programs that tie to special exhibits. Other functions include participation on staff teams to develop and implement future museum programming and supervision of Play Facilitators in various zones of the museum.

Position Responsibilities:
- Establish professional working relationships with members of the community for Arts in the Afternoon, Cultural Sundays, Saturday Morning Series and other museum programming. Oversee these programs in terms of scheduling, planning for programming requirements, contract negotiation, and implementation of agreed plan.
- Collaborate with new community organizations to offer innovative programming that supports museum exhibits.
- Conduct Saturday Morning Program tied to special exhibits in the museum. This includes working with Education staff to write programming and carry out planned curriculum.
- Work as an interdepartmental team member in the development of future museum programming in the enhancement of special and ongoing exhibits.
- Work with the Director of Education to develop exhibit center programming that is developmentally appropriate for our visitors and fits with the Reggio Emilia philosophy and early learning goals of the museum.
- Keep current with the education literature for young children.
- Working to present messages about the importance of early learning and open-ended play experiences for young children to families and other visitors to the Museum.
- Planning and participation in educational events as assigned.
- Ordering and maintaining supply inventory within designated budget.
- Supervision and mentoring of play facilitators and volunteers.
- Aid in maintenance and organization of education storage area.
- Participation in weekly staff meetings and trainings as assigned.
