A private non-profit institution, The Children’s Museum, Seattle (TCM) is the region’s pre-eminent early childhood development institution for children birth – 10 years and their families.  TCM brings to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on explorations of the world around them.  Located on the first floor of the Seattle Center’s Center House, the Museum serves 230,000 visitors annually including school groups, youth organizations, off-site at-risk youth programs and sponsored admissions programs.

Position Title:  Imagination Art Studio Facilitator

Position Function and Purpose:   The Imagination Studio Facilitator assists in the daily operation of the Imagination Studio, a drop-in art studio where artists, children, and their families work together to create art. Primary duties include preparation and maintenance of art supplies, studio space, and program facilitation.

Position Requirements:

  • Positive and optimistic attitude, strong work ethic
  • Creative thinker, able to work with limited supplies
  • Demonstrated dependability, reliability, on-time performance and regular attendance in past jobs
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of children of various ages and cultures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Visual artist: Traditional artist preferred
  • Must be Fun!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the planned age appropriate arts curriculum primarily for children ages 2 though12
  • Presenting and facilitating art programs for families as well as scheduled groups of children and adults from schools or other organizations
  • Preparing studio space and setting up materials for daily and weekend programming
  • Ensuring that the families participating in the studio are successfully working together and having a positive experience
  • Contributing ideas and activities that would enhance the program

Education requirements:

  • Employment or coursework in the arts, arts education, or education
  • Previous experience with arts-based youth programs, early childhood development, museum work

Reports to:

  • Imagination Studio Manager

Schedule:

  • Full-time, must be available weekends

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience
