A private non-profit institution, The Children’s Museum, Seattle (TCM) is the region’s pre-eminent early childhood development institution for children birth 10 years and their families. TCM brings to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on explorations of the world around them. Located on the first floor of the Seattle Center’s Center House, the Museum serves over 230,000 visitors annually including school groups, youth organizations, off-site at-risk youth programs and sponsored admissions programs.
Position Title: Operations Manager
Position Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. in relevant field
- Two years of experience in museum management or similar field
- Experience working with a diverse public
- Two years experience in staff and volunteer management
Position Responsibilities
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Exhibit Center Manager and Visitor Services Assistant position.
- Establish and oversee museum operation procedures, including cash handling, admissions, staff scheduling, and customer service.
- Coordinate community partnerships between museum and other corporations, non-profits, and government agencies.
- Oversee all customer service responses.
- Establish and implement safety, security, and emergency procedures for staff and museum visitors.
- Implement and maintain Operations Department budget.
- Order and display retail shop merchandise.
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
- Interact with visitors and present museum exhibits and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Schedule:
- Full-time, flexible, including weekends, holidays and some evenings
Compensation:
35K 40K, annually
