A private non-profit institution, The Children’s Museum, Seattle (TCM) is the region’s pre-eminent early childhood development institution for children birth – 10 years and their families.  TCM brings to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on explorations of the world around them.  Located on the first floor of the Seattle Center’s Center House, the Museum serves 230,000 visitors annually including school groups, youth organizations, off-site at-risk youth programs and sponsored admissions programs.

Position TitlePlay Facilitator

Position Function and Purpose: The person in this position provides a welcoming and fun experience for museum guests by assisting in the daily facilitation of museum programs and exhibits. Join us as we provide fun, creative, hands-on programs for children and their families.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with young children (ages 6-10) in both formal and informal educational settings.
  • Experience working with different art materials and creating art projects with children. 
  • Ability to adjust to the day-to-day challenges of a high traffic public setting.
  • Exceptionally high standards for education, early childhood development and customer service.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Experience working in a fast paced public setting is desired. 
  • Must be outgoing and able to work as part of a team environment  
  • Must have experience and sensitivity in working with children and families

Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate emergent programming in specified exhibit
  • Coordinate with education department to implement programming
  • Provide visitors with friendly, accurate information about the museum
  • Provide visitors with museum and Seattle Center information
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
  • Interact with visitors and present museum exhibits and programs to children and families.
  • Other duties as assigned

Reports to:

Exhibit Program Manager

Schedule:

Full-Time position; must be available weekends, holidays, and some evenings

Compensation:

$10.00 - $12.00/hour
