A private non-profit institution, The Children’s Museum, Seattle (TCM) is the region’s pre-eminent early childhood development institution for children birth – 10 years and their families.  TCM brings to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on explorations of the world around them.  Located on the first floor of the Seattle Center’s Center House, the Museum serves 230,000 visitors annually including school groups, youth organizations, off-site at-risk youth programs and sponsored admissions programs.

Position Title:  Visitor Services Assistant

Position Function and Purpose:

The incumbent in this position provides a safe and fun experience for museum guests by assisting in the daily operation of museum exhibits, programs, admission, membership, and school and birthday party reservations.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience working in a fast paced public setting is desired. 
  • Proven track record using cash register systems, reconciling cash drawers and assisting visitors with information needs. 
  • Must be outgoing and able to work as part of a team environment.  
  • Must have experience working with children and families. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide visitors with friendly, informed access to the museum.
  • Cash handling and till reconciliation.  Must operate cash register.
  • Provide visitors with museum and Seattle Center information.
  • Greet and assist school groups, daytime parties and evening event patrons.
  • Maintain and restock exhibits to provide a full experience for each visitor.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain cleanliness of museum.
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Interact with visitors and present museum exhibits and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to:

  • Exhibit Center Manager

Schedule:

  • Full-time; must be available weekends, holidays, and some evenings

Compensation:

  • Hourly, non-exempt
