A private non-profit institution, The Children's Museum is the region's preeminent learning institution for the children and their families, focusing on interactive exhibits and and programs related to the arts and humanities. Located on the first floor of Seattle Center's Center House, the museum serves more than 300,000 visitors annually including over 33,000 students, groups, at-risk youth and incarcerated teens through its outreach and sponsored admission programs.

The Children's Museum volunteer is responsible for facilitating the educational interpretative program and operations duties in various TCM exhibits.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Develop full knowledge of background information for chosen exhibits and related activity plans within The Children's Museum.
• Present and facilitate the programs of the exhibits for scheduled groups of children and adults, as well as drop-in visitors.
• Prepare exhibits spaces for programs, including set-up and clean-up when necessary.
• Prepare necessary materials for daily and weekend programming.
• Assist in the daily operation of museum.
• Ensure that visitors to The Children's Museum have the most positive experience possible.
• Maintain the quality of the exhibits, ensuring a safe and clean environment exists within the museum.
• Other duties as assigned in order to carry out the mission and educational belief and statement of The Children's Museum.

Volunteer Requirements

• Desire and ability to work with children is a must.
• Ability to communicate effectively and dynamically with children and adults in groups and on an individual basis.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and/or education is a plus.
• Public speaking and presentation experience for a children and adults.
• Ability to work and adapt to a dynamic workplace.
