The Children's Museum, Seattle brings to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on explorations of the world around them.

Position Title:  Play Volunteer

Help us explore, play and discover with our young visitors by assisting in a variety of daily museum programs such as being a Store Manager in our Grocery store or helping a toddler build a fantastic structure with blocks.

Position Function and Purpose:

The position provides a fun and interactive experience for museum guests by assisting in daily gallery programs and facilitating spontaneous play throughout the museum.

Position Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children and families
  
  
• Ability to adjust to the day-to-day challenges of a high traffic public setting
  
  
• Exceptionally high standards for education, early childhood development and customer service
  
  
• Must have excellent customer service skills
  
  
• Experience working in a fast paced public setting is desired
   
• Must be friendly, outgoing and able to work as part of a team environment
  
  
• Six month commitment

Position Responsibilities:

• Facilitate educational programming in specified exhibits in a fun and interactive manner
  
  
• Provide visitors with information about The Children's Museum, Seattle
  
  
• Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
  
  
• Interact with visitors and present museum exhibits and programs to children and families
  
  
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled
  
  
• Other duties as assigned

Reports to:

• Exhibit Program Manager

Schedule:

• Must be available at least once a week, for a six month commitment. Shifts available: 10- 1:00 pm or 1-4:00pm.
