Where Imagination Comes Alive . . . in a sensory sensitive mode.

LIUB 2011 (7)

We are proud to open our doors early on the first Saturday of each month with our lights dimmed and minimal sounds.  In our partnership with Autism Speaks, we have adjusted the Museum's setting to be friendly to those who benefit from a quieter environment.

The Museum opens at 8:30am on the first Saturday of each month at a reduced rate of $3.00 per person.  Tickets must be pre-purchased using the link below and are not available onsite.  Pre-purchasing tickets allows us to adjust our staffing requirements to meet the needs of our guests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone attend these early opens?
Technically, yes. However, we do ask that you respect the needs that some children have for a quieter experience in the Museum. These mornings are designed for children affected by autism or other challenges that make the normal noise of the Museum challenging.

Do I have to pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, we need to know how many attendees to expect.

When do the lights and sounds return to normal?
We open to the general public at 10am. Shortly before that time, a staff member will walk through and alert families that the normal lights and sounds will resume in a few minutes.
